Meet Jake Taylor

Jake is a lifelong resident of greater Bel Air, Maryland. He grew up walking Main Street with his family and running in and out of the many shops that make our Downtown community so vibrant. Now, he is committed to protecting our community for the next generation.

A student of history, Jake quickly fell in love with the genius of the American Constitution, and the brilliance and resilience of the Founding Fathers. Taking example from young leaders like James Monroe and James Madison, Jake knew from an early age that public service had no age requirement. It was in listening to the speeches of Ronald Reagan that Jake knew he was a conservative Republican.

In 2023, Jake decided to run for a seat on the Bel Air Town Commission. He was dissatisfied with the unresponsive attitude of the incumbent Commissioners, believing that government could only be legitimate if it represented the will of its constituents.  Running on a platform of public safety, fiscal responsibility, and preserving the charm of the small Town where he grew up, Jake was elected in a landslide.

Taking office at age 20, Bel Air Town Commissioner Jake Taylor became the youngest elected official in Harford County history. During his time on the Board, Jake has delivered on his campaign promises, passing legislation to preserve the small town character of Bel Air and supporting budgets that fully fund both the Bel Air Police Department and critical infrastructure upgrades, all without raising a penny in taxes.

Jake has seen first-hand, as a local elected official, as a former Legislative Aide in the Maryland Senate, and while working for a family-run Harford County small business, just how far off the rails Annapolis has gone and how badly our community is paying the price. It's time for someone to step up and do something about it.

Now, Jake is running to represent District 34B in the Maryland House of Delegates to take the fight for Harford County's values directly to Annapolis because it has never been more clear that the General Assembly desperately needs to be reminded that they serve the State of Maryland and her people, not the other way around.
